Placement in our program starts with a conversation between the home school, family, and the Future Self Center. Our students are usually on the verge of school removal due to behaviors that are not conducive to school success. Our program can not serve students with physically aggressive behaviors or special needs that require intense emotional support. Students do well at the Future Self Center if they are willing to start fresh, try new things, and engage in developing skills and interests that lead toward future success. 

Work with your school administration to discuss this option to determine if it is a good fit. The application process is managed by the school district and we place students quickly if there is room in the program.

In most cases, there is no cost to families.  A student’s homeschool is most likely responsible for the cost of the program. 

We will work through the problem and help the student take responsibility for his/her actions. We believe in restoring the balance and using our community norms to support positive change and growth. Parents are always in the loop and asked to support positive changes. If there is an extreme issue involving physical aggression or ongoing disruptions to safety, students could potentially be removed from the program. 

The goal is for the student to gain confidence and skills so he/she can successfully re-enter the home school. The placement can vary from 9 weeks to 18 weeks depending student progress and needs.

We have a detailed transition process to ensure the home school, student, and family are ready for change. We want to make sure that the home school is prepared to support the student and that we have solid plans in place for future success.
